# Invite Member

> Add a new person to your organization and choose what they are allowed to do.

## How to invite a member

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the Invite Member modal">
    Navigate to **Settings → Users** and click **Invite Member**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter the email address">
    Enter the email address of the person you want to invite. They must not already be a member of the organization.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Select a role">
    Choose **Admin** or **Member** from the Role dropdown.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Set permissions (optional)">
    Toggle the **Add Credits** and **Rent Machines** permission cards if needed.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Send the invitation">
    Click **Invite**. The user receives an email invitation and must accept it to join the organization.

## Role selection

The default is **Member**. Use **Admin** only for users who need to manage members, settings, or billing. Use **Member** for standard users.

## Permissions

Two additional permissions can be granted to any user, regardless of role:

| Permission        | What it allows                                                        |
| ----------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Add Credits**   | User can manage billing and add payment methods in Settings → Billing |
| **Rent Machines** | User can create clusters and allocate GPU resources                   |

## Guidance by use case

| Use case                           | Recommended role | Recommended permissions    |

| Developer building on GPU clusters | Member           | Rent Machines              |
| Finance or operations admin        | Admin            | Add Credits                |
| Infrastructure operator            | Admin or Member  | Rent Machines              |
| Read-only reviewer                 | Member           | None                       |
| Organization owner                 | Admin            | Add Credits, Rent Machines |

## Security guidance

* Limit Admin role to trusted organization administrators
* Grant **Rent Machines** only to users authorized to create and use GPU resources
* Grant **Add Credits** only to users authorized to manage billing
* Review the Users page periodically to confirm roles and permissions reflect current team needs
